We’ve established a very satisfying tradition of endowing scholarships to promising local youth for more than 50 years! Please enjoy reading about the program and its most impressive recipients!
The Redwood City Rotary Club understands the importance of education and has grown its fund to over $120,000 for the purpose of helping promising young men and women with financial assistance toward completing their formal education. The students are Redwood City residents from various schools and backgrounds. The awards are based on a number of criteria including scholastic ability, responsibility toward education, and financial need—with a special emphasis on community service.
Eight to ten youth benefit from scholarships each year. Awards range from $750 for those attending local community colleges to $1,500 for students matriculating at four year colleges and universities.
Scholarship awards are presented at the Redwood City Rotary Club Awards Luncheon held in late May at 12:00 noon, at the Redwood City Rotary Club’s regular meeting place: The Sequoia Club, 1695 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063. Students and their families attend this meeting which is one of the highlights of the Rotary year.
There’s always room in Rotary and in our Scholarship Committee for more committed folks! Contact Karen Krueger at karen.krueger@chw.edu for more information.
